Traveling and passing through the residences of ordinary people in China, I always encounter the low, old and mainly clay-brick building structures. Structures like these will lead to wastages in resources, destructions to farmlands, and pollution to environment! When there is an area under economic development in China, large amount of rubbles and rubbishes will emerge. Either for heating or cooling, the clay-brick buildings are poor in insulation and waste a lot of energy.

I am lost of words whenever I think of this!

In the past few years, I have visited many countries in Europe and America. I noticed that they had fewer clay-brick houses; instead, I would see houses made of wood, steel or a combination of steel and wood. These building materials are convenient in construction, ecological, energy-saving, and produced less CO2, especially, wood materials which can be recycled and re-used forever.

In Austria, USA, Germany, and Japan etc., their house producing factories are just like car manufacturing production line. One winter at the ELK Company, Austria, at 9 am, a 300-square meters prefabricated house just begun to install and assemble. By 8 pm the same day, it was ready for us to drink coffee in the just completed house. It is really surprising how fast a house can be built in such a way! The precise prefabrication makes the installation speedy and convenient just like assembling a piece of furniture.

It was snowing heavily in Austria in January, extremely cold outdoor, however, without heating, the room indoor was warm like Spring time. The secret was the outstanding insulation wall, plus a powerless temperature and wind control system. It almost consumed zero energy and produced no CO2.

Comparing to Chinese architectures, the gap between China and the West is so great! This huge difference motivates me! China must change! She certainly will change!

With a population of 1.4 billion, no other country in the world can match the size of China’s construction market! The annual construction market alone in Beijing is equal to the total of European construction market.

As a result, after one year of preparation, with the support of China Ministry of Construction, Century Building was born in 2003…..

and architectural market of our country.
